The struggle is real.
I’m going to lay it out for you, and you’ve heard/seen me say this before… No one has their shit together. At least not in the way that you usually assume they do. There’s a lot of fluff out there in the world now. Especially when it comes to social media. You have to ignore it and do what you do. Even if you don’t know exactly what it is that you do yet you just gotta keep going. Take the direction you have and know and get down to business. Get out there and bust your ass! No one is going to do it for you and no one is waiting around for you to show your potential. You have to put it out there and lay it in front of them.
You’re going to have down days. You’re going to struggle from pay check to pay check. You’re going to look at your heroes at times and feel pretty worthless. That’s fine. Have your pity party, your down time and eat ramen and then get up and bust some more ass.
Seriously. What are you really waiting on? There’s never enough money. There’s never enough time. There’s always "what ifs" and "if onlys." You’ll die in a job you hate doing things you don’t care about if you wait on time, money and ifs to align.
There is not time limit for your success.
When I was 16… 19… 23… I thought “Hell… I’m going to be set by the time I’m 25. Ha! 25 came and went. I had the potential, but I didn’t want it bad enough. Even at 25 I didn’t want it bad enough. I said to myself then “Well, by 30 I’ll at least be on my way.” Not only did I set another ridiculous goal but I even scaled back my previous goal.
I’m not 30 yet, but since 25 I’ve learned that goals (at least for me) are worthless. They put an unreasonable time and expectation on something that you can’t possibly foresee. Today I have “destinations." I’ll arrive when I arrive, but I’ll do everything in my power and bust my ass as hard as I can to get there.
You’ll learn some hard lessons (I’m in one now, myself). After those lessons you’ll have earned your degree, and you can move forward a smarter person.
If you keep going, keep growing, keep getting smarter and refining what you do… tomorrow you may arrive. You may be a day, a conversation, an email or a phone call away. You’ll never know though if you don’t take the journey.
